State Code (2 digits) + PAN (10 characters) + Entity Number (1) + Z + Check Digit (1).

  1. In Tally Prime, go to Gateway of Tally → Alter → Ledger → [Select Party Name].
  2. Under GST Registration Details, enter the verified GSTIN.
  3. Ensure the State name and State code match the GSTIN’s first two digits.
  4. Press Ctrl + A to save the changes.

Step 3: Correct Existing Transactions

If vouchers were already recorded with the wrong GSTIN:

  • Open each voucher → press F12: Configure → Provide GST Details → Yes.
  • Re-select the correct Party Ledger with the updated GSTIN.
  • Save the voucher again.

  • Reopen the Error/Exception Report and ensure the mismatch entries are cleared.
  • Finally, regenerate the GSTR-1 JSON file and validate it using the GST offline tool before uploading.
